Substance Use Disorder

Substance Use Disorder (SUD) is a health condition where a person uses alcohol, drugs, or medications in a harmful way. It causes a strong need to keep using the substance even when it causes problems. Symptoms include cravings, loss of control, physical dependence, and withdrawal when stopping. SUD can be mild or severe and often affects health, relationships, and daily life. Treatment usually includes therapy, counseling, and sometimes medicine to help with withdrawal and prevent relapse. Early help and ongoing support are important for recovery.
